“You may not control all the events that happen to you, but your can decide not to be reduced by them.” – Maya Angelou

Maya’s quote has been a guiding light throughout my life and has been especially valuable during my years as an educator. I am a proud graduate of the Overbrook Class of 1971. As a former student, 30+ year retired Overbrook High School teacher, current Vice President, and board member of the Overbrook High School Alumni Association, my blood runs orange through and through.

As alumni, we are striving to help make a lasting difference in Overbrook students' lives, while supporting the vision of Principal Lee, her leadership team, teachers, and staff. It has been said that it takes a village to raise productive adults, and we aim to be a productive part of this village.

This past year has been especially difficult for everyone. We have had to learn to push forward and dig deeper for our resilience; through it all, our community continues to lean on each other to fill the gaps and emerge stronger than before.

I wish you a healthy, productive, and extraordinarily successful season.

Stay Safe!
